Installing MetaMask

MetaMask is a handy application that is embedded into Google Chrome or Firefox browser to simplify the work with Ethereum blockchain or forks based on it. To install it, be sure to go to the project’s official website https://metamask.io/

then click Download

Make sure that there is a sign at the beginning of the address bar

this means that you are on the official site of the project, if the sign will be different or different color — probably a phishing site pretending to be official.

Next, on the next page, click on

This takes you to the extension store page for your browser, click Add to Chrome there

After installation is complete, you will see a window prompting you to start using

We will need a wallet to work with the network, let’s create one, it’s very simple.

MetaMask as many other commercial products — collects statistics, share it or not — your business, the choice will not affect the quality of work.

Create a password, you will need to enter it to confirm future payments

Next will be a suggestion to save secret wallet phrases — without them you will never recover your wallet and all your funds stored in that wallet will be irretrievably lost. Save your phrases as soon as possible.

And so, if you passed to the next view — congratulations, you installed MetaMask and are ready to work with the network. Proceed to the next part, we are going to set up a wallet to receive ALF tokens.

Configuring MetaMask to get a token

You already have MetaMask installed and now you need to configure it to receive ALF tokens, if not — please refer to the first part of this guide.

MetaMask works with the Ethereum network by default, the tokens we should get are in the Smart Chain network — it is a fork (a copy of functionality) of the Ethereum network, the network is switched using the top dropdown menu.

As we see — the network you want is missing from the list, let’s add it. To do this, click on the round profile icon in the upper right corner

and go to the MetaMask settings. We are interested in the Networks section.

Let’s continue by clicking on

Here you can add parameters of another network so that MetaMask starts working with it. The parameters can be taken from the screenshot below or as text.

Network Name: Smart Chain

New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/

ChainID: 56

Symbol: BNB

Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com

Please enter carefully and without mistakes.

Don’t forget to save it.

Now look at the top menu,

If it does not say Smart Chain, you need to click and select

Part 2.

We are set up with the network we want, now we just need to add a token and give our address to receive it. Click on Assets and then Import tokens

Each token has several unchangeable parameters to work with them, this is primarily the address of the token in the network, the symbol (short name) of the token and the number of zeros after one. It’s enough to enter the address and the other parameters should pull up themselves, if this does not happen — then the address is probably not correct or entered incorrectly, pay attention to this.
